Julio and Egg Sandwiches for Days

¡Hola! Todo bien? We are all good here in good old Ezeiza, Buenos Aires! I've been working hard with getting to know my area and always trying to take that initiative that I need to do. Always learning more streets and pushing myself to put myself out there and talk with as many people as I can in a day.

The other Ezeiza Companionship (Elder Harper y Elder Fontes) had another Baptism with my friend Julio! Julio is a bundle of fun and teaches me everything I need to know that all the other missionaries can't teach jaja! I was able to teach Julio many lessons because of all the exchanges I have been on with them. Julio is my buddy and he does Karate! It was a great Baptism and Julio asked if I could be a witness for his baptism. He is a great friend!

Elder Hadley is killing it with making egg sandwiches, Jaja learning more and more by the hour! It is not to fancy, I scrabble some eggs, put it on white bread, then add some ketchup. That is my dinner every other day. For lunch we have sack lunches because we are out walking all day.

Not too much happened this week, kinda tricky with people falling through but that just makes me think of the importance of why I am down here.

I think sometimes we look at The Book of Mormon and love the stories and the feeling from the Spirit we get when we read and study, but I explained to one of my investigators this week the importance and a different perspective.

The Bible and The Book of Mormon are two great resources God has given us to search for answers to our personal questions. I explained how they both are your eyes, with one you can see everything, but it can be hard and not seeing the depth in things. But when you have both you can see the whole picture and see the depths of whatever you are looking at. Using both scriptures will not only help up learn more of the content but also, we can see God’s perspective for all of us.

Keep Reading/Studying your scriptures and Praying for answers to your prayers. You all are in my prayers and I always hope for the best for ya'll! Have a wonderful following week and Happy Halloween! No Halloween here in Argentina but I am going to dress up like a Missionary anyway!

Zone Conference and a Good Haircut

¡Hola! Another great week in the mission field! Working hard to correct my Castillano. (Argentina’s Dialect of Spanish)

We had Zone Conference this week and many more exchanges. I have been staying in my area for the exchanges since I need to learn the area before my companion leaves. Ezeiza has still been an adjustment but there are some great people here and very pretty. I am getting better with all the streets.

Also update on the dog bite: My finger is growing back Jaja

This week’s Zone Conference was my comps last one, meaning he shared his testimony. He is a great trainer and has taught me a lot these past two weeks. It seems that all the Zone Conferences are just for the leaving missionaries and how they are supposed to get married quick and start having kids!!! Jaja (Not happening for a while mom!)

Elder Schulske and I are teaching a Gentleman named Gustavo and his pitbull... He is a great Investigator and can make awesome Fried Empanadas. We are trying to help him understand how The Church of Jesus Christ is the only church with the true power and authority of God with the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are going to keep answering the questions that we can and give him the resources he needs to have confirmation and receive answers to his questions.

On that note I want you all to first keep doing the 3 things we all ask of and that is to pray, read your scriptures, and keep going to church to demonstrate your faith and obedience to our Father in Heaven. After, ask him the questions you have, doesn't matter on the questions just something that matters to you. I love you all and know you all are in my prayers! Have a wonderful week!

Dog Bite #1

¡Hola! So, I forgot how tricky it is to learn a whole new area... but I am getting there! Ezeiza B Is a great area and full of a lot of nice people. Elder Schulske and I are working hard, and I am working him even harder because I'm going to be killing him since it is his last transfer here then he will be going back home to Pleasant Grove.

Argentina has dogs everywhere. They are often in packs with a leader and are not cute little friendly dogs.  It is known that missionaries in Argentina will get bit by dogs sooner than later.  So....Elder Hadley is very blessed to still have his Left Ring Finger. On accident Elder Hadley’s left hand fell through a fence and a Female Pitbull Mix bit my hand... I still have my hand. The owner said it got its vaccines, so I'm not worried about rabies Jaja.

The owner also said that 4 weeks ago the Female Pitbull killed a Male Rottweiler and snapped its neck. But for good news we got ourselves a new investigator, the owner of the Pitbull! I will make sure to stay away from the puppy! Jaja So if you want, I got pics of my fingers below. πŸ‘‡

We have been working with a lot of people here and I'm learning every moment. We are working with the guy that runs the Kiosko that is across the street from our pention. He is also attending the Jehovah Witness Church too... so he will come to The Church of Jesus Christ and we are going to the Jehovah Witness on Wednesday! He knows for about 85% that we are the true church, but he knows to study it out and to make sure this is what he wants to do.

We also have about 3 Ricarlos that we are teaching and one of them is working super hard to quit smoking. We pray for him and all our other investigators so they can receive the help they need to move forward to the saving ordinances and make covenants with our Father in Heaven.

My spiritual thought is something Elder Schulske and I talked through Saturday morning for companionship study. Lehi's family all went into the wilderness and did the same things but how come Sam and Nephi were righteous and Lamen and Lemuel weren't? Attitude and Intent is everything in the Lord’s eyes. He sees our trials and tries to bless us. I challenge you to re-evaluate your attitudes and intents and see if they align with the Lords. Being a missionary can sometimes be hard but when you have the right mindset and attitude it can change how your story ends. Hope you all have a wonderful week and know I pray for you all!

Emergency Transfer and Tribute to Elder Mills

¡Hola! So, hope you all loved General Conference! This week Elder Aldave and I have been working hard and received some news after Saturday sessions. I will be doing an Emergency Transfer and moving to Ezeiza B! I was told my new Companion was Elder Schulaks from Pleasant Grove, Utah. Elder Schulaks was without companion and the assistant said I’m leaving after last session of conference. The taxi ride was interesting, and the taxi driver was not to happy I had so much stuff!

I am glad I had learned and was "Born" in Acevedo with Elder Aldave as my trainer. I will miss the ward and wonderful members in Acevedo!

I have 5 weeks to master this area because Elder Schulaks will be done and returning home to Utah. It’s nice here in Ezeiza and one of the prettiest places in my mission and very safe. My pension is nice, and I have hot water! I will still be walking a lot (over 10 miles a day), but you know how the mission is always walking and trying to teach.

A little bit about Conference I absolutely loved Elder Rasband’s talk on trusting the Lord and keeping covenants. With me recently making more covenants with my Heavenly Father I have seen the blessings in life and would challenge you all to continue on that path and partake of the delicious Fruit in Lehi’s dream. Love you all and hope you have a great week. Keep praying and reading your scriptures!

Elder Hadley

This is Elder and Hermana Mills from Bountiful, Utah. Elder Mills served as a young Elder in Argentina back in1965-1967. They arrived as Senior Couple Missionaries in the BAS Mission in April 2019.

When we saw their picture before Parker left we knew that they were going to become very important in Parker's life. Elder Mills picked up Parker from the airport and has been a very influential person in helping Elder Hadley adjust to missionary life in Argentina during his first transfer.

Sunday September 29th Elder Mills had just finished and sent out his weekly letter to the missionaries for the BAS Mission Newsletter when he laid down to take a nap. Sadly Elder Mills passed away peacefully during his nap and the BAS Mission is mourning the loss of a great leader, teacher and friend.

Parker expressed to us last week how much Elder Mills helped him in six short weeks and asked for us to pray for their family as the mission helps Hermana Mills (who knows very little Spanish) return home to her family. Parker will never forget the Mills and told us that he knows Elder Mills will now be helping him for the rest of his mission from the other side! πŸ’—

Meet John Nixon, our new favorite person! John is a returned missionary from the BAS Mission from Bountiful, Utah. He is currently a student at the U and was asked to take some students during Fall Break to tour South America. John's very first stop was the BAS Mission.

As parents we cannot mail anything to Argentina and the only way to get items to Parker is through a courier that flies down and charges $15 delivery fee and $22 a pound.

John took an empty suitcase with him and told parents that we could fill it up for our missionaries free of charge and even left the suitcase for a future missionary at the mission home.

Vitamins was the only thing that Parker requested but we were able to send a few items for his birthday in November. Elder Hadley was the only missionary that got a personal delivery because John wanted to come to Acevedo because that was one of his areas.

John had just gotten off the plane on Saturday when this picture was taken and just a few hours later Elder Hadley found out he was leaving Acevedo the next day!
Huge Tender Mercy for our family!

Mom Note: It is not the best idea for BAS Missionaries to take pictures outside. When Parker found out he was leaving he wanted to quickly take some pictures so he could remember his area and the streets he would walk and teach.

Parker said that littering is not against the law in Argentina.  He said that people just put their garbage in front of their houses. Then when it builds up they just push it down to the next neighbor and so on.
