Not Like Selling Potatoes and Oranges

¡Hola! How we all doing this beautiful day? (soy Elder CRUZ y SOY NEGRO y amo mucho a Hadley es mi mejor amigo,i love your son) Jaja That is my comp Elder Cruz!

This week has been full of getting better at contacts:) I could sell anything in English but in Spanish it's a lot harder! I can sell Potatoes and Oranges from Parker's Produce but doing it all in Castillano (Spanish) is another story! Jaja.

We had a little late birthday party for my companion and I with the Familia Galliano (Italiano) and they made us our own cakes and of course Elder Hadley didn't share... Chiste Chiste Jaja

I went on a lot of intercambios (exchanges) this week and have been learning a lot from many different missionaries.
We have 4 possible baptisms this next week. One of them is really special; she is a 60-year-old lady and is blind. Teaching her was a great experience and she is such a sweet lady. Getting baptized will not only open the gates of the Celestial Kingdom to her but also bring peace into her life.

We are also working on getting Ricarlo Garcia to receive El Sacerdocio (Priesthood) this upcoming week!

This last week was another great week in the mission, but something special I learned that I want to share with you all is the fact that a mission is tithing for the life that I have been blessed with. You finish the mission at 20 years old and 10% of that is 2 years. I've never thought of the mission in this way while being out here. I am trying to give my 100% out here to show how grateful I am for everything I have. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Elder Hadley
Happy Thanksgiving!!!  (no turkey here so I will be celebrating with a ham sandwich!) 👍

Mom Note: Elder Hadley does not video every week but he decided to this week because he thought Monday was Thanksgiving! It is crazy how confused he sometimes gets living in a different country! And Thanksgiving is his favorite holiday, he knows it is always on a Thursday-must be the heat and humidity!

Technology is amazing! Logan was at Farmington High School during lunch, McKay up at Utah State, Stanford in Salt Lake, Lynette in Kaysville and Elder Hadley in Buenos Aires!

And don't forget Elder Hadley was typing to Jarrett in class at USU and Parker's best friend Ethan in Guatemala while he was communicating with all of us!

Introducing Elder Cruz and Stake Conference

¡Hola! This last week has been great! South America is great, and you learn a lot here in the mission and in Argentina! We had Stake Conference and had to take a train for 45 mins to Monte Grando. All the members got on the train to go, little different than Stake Conference back at home. Not too much detail to share with you all about this last week besides having a lot of choripan (Argentine Sausage Sandwich that looks like a hotdog) with the Ward Mission Leader and lots of jugo (juice)!!!

My new companion is Elder Cruz and he is great! He is our District Leader and from Honduras. He said that Honduras has the 2nd clearest water in the world! There are beaches and everyone has a mango tree!

We have some baptisms this Saturday! The mom has been taking lessons and the girl wanted a Book of Mormon. She brought her brother to church and they loved it. They are so ready, it was like we clapped in front of their house and they came running out and said, “I want to get baptized” and we said, “I know how to fix that”. JAJA

We walk all day and try to talk with everyone, and I haven´t noticed how my Castellano (Argentina’s dialect of Spanish) is getting better.

At Stake Conference Elder Aldave, who was my very first companion in Argentina from Peru, and I met up at Stake Conference and he told me my Castellano has gotten so much better. Back when I was transferred, we switched ties and at Stake Conference he was wearing the tie I gave him. We gave each other a big hug and he told me he missed me. I feel really good and loving my mission even though it is hard.

I learned there is a list that Elder Hales said if we read and study the scriptures in this order you will understand every scripture.

Read the Book of Mormon
John and Acts
Jesus the Christ - Talmage
Matt
Mark
Luke
Romans to Revelations
And all of the Old Testament

Then repeat for the rest of your life. It will always be a part of my day to read part of the Word of God and I see His hand in my mission work. I am glad I have a plan for what to study. The mission shows the value of planning because every day you need a plan for where you are going to go and share this important message. I challenge you all to continue to study the Book of Mormon and Come Follow Me with your family! I am very grateful for this time and opportunity to serve the Lord today and every day.

Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Be getting ready for a lot of TURKEY; MASHED POTATOES, y FOOTBALL (The right kind of football Jaja)

Mom Note: When communicating back and forth with Elder Hadley today we asked him what he did on P-Days. He said he goes out shopping for food while we are all asleep. Today he bought 20 eggs (for his famous egg sandwiches), pasta, juice and milk.  This week he is being adventurous and bought some ham!

We asked if he bought Fruit and Vegetables. Parker said he buys stuff from the bolivianos on the corners. We had a good laugh when we asked exactly what was he was buying on the corners in Argentina!
He said the bolivians are cheaper than the market but said they depend on the members to get us frutas!

Always fun to communicate through a group message! JAJA

Elder Cruz my new companion from Honduras!

Some members made us some Tuco con pollo!!

Mango, Banana and Orange Juice with Elder Hadley

We live by an airport and sometimes I look at the planes and think I wonder who is on them and where they are going....

.... sometimes I have a lot of time to think.

Elder Harper and Elder Hadley, the temperature and humidity is rising here in Argentina!

Mom Note: Anybody else wondering, "Where is Elder Hadley's tie? Question for next week...

A Baptism for My Birthday

Hola! This was a great finish up to a great companionship and another great transfer! I killed Elder Schulaks! This morning Elder Schulaks wanted to get Empanadas for the last time, so we went and got 40 of them. I think I ate about 20 out of the 4 missionaries in our apartment. He just left two hours ago and now is off to Utah!

My new companion will be awesome, and it is Elder Cruz from Honduras.  He has been out six months and has 10 in his family, seven older sisters then him! This will be another great transfer!

This last week has been a hard week with all the intercambios (Exchanges) but we have been able to accomplish a lot.

Greatest Birthday present in the mission...We got a baptism for the last week of the transfer! I baptized Sencion Ricarlo Garcia on Saturday Nov. 9th. He is an older gentleman and has a bad back.

Before the baptism Ricarlo and I talked about baptizing him face first to help his back and help me to be able to lift him up out of the water. Right before the baptism the witnesses kept telling me to step back, but I knew what I was doing, but the witnesses did not know the plan. Ricarlo got baptized face forward...Elder Hadley made it as comfortable as possible... He did it:). It was quite interesting… but was a great experience for the both us.

Second Greatest Gift was my family. They sent me an easy to make chocolate cake with sprinkles and the number “19”, pictures of family and friends and some letters! Love you guys!

Birthdays in the mission are different but I am happy to have my 19th birthday in the mission and in the middle of Buenos Aires! Love you all and hope you guys have a wonderful week!

4 Beds for 4 Elders. We sleep feet to feet.

Elder Hadley and Elder Harper

The beds are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. The stairs are a little scary and dangerous in the dark if you have to get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom!

Don't worry we have done some rearranging when we realized this was not a good layout.

Welcome to our Casa Elder Harper!

I bought a Birthday Present for myself
40 Alfejores for $3.00!
They are the best!

Hermana Fernandez, a member in our ward, made me a Birthday Asado after church on Sunday!

Loved my Birthday Asado! In Argentina a salad is just tomatoes, no lettuce.

Elder Harper making my Birthday Cake!

19 years old in 2019!
I always know how old I am each year! JAJA

It is time for him to go home now

Well Done Elder Schulaks!!!

Giving Cigarettes Names

Hola! Como andan mi familia y amigos? It's November the best month of the year! Why because it is my Birthday Month! And it is freakin hot here! Jaja This last week has been great, finding many people and getting fetchas!(Baptismal dates)

We have been working with a hermana named Suzanna to get her baptized and trying to get her to quit smoking and drinking. Smoking is a big problem here in Argentina. She is very sweet and smokes about 10 cigarettes a day, for that we were very direct with her. We wrote her children’s names on every cigarette in one pack so she would see the names of her children every time she smoked. Ojala she follows through with her meta (Goal).

It has been crazy here in the pention with moving in the other Elders in our ward because their contract ended Nov. 1. So, it has been very loco with moving in beds, furniture and all their stuff into our pention. I have to crawl over people to get into bed. We look like we are on an episode of “Hoarders”. We are getting bunk beds this next week and that should help with space.

Also, in other news, the Missionary Department for the Church sent us a letter. They have asked us to try to dress business casual instead of wearing white shirts and ties in some of the Latin missions.  We have received more instruction on this from our Zone Leaders. Our mission in the near future (maybe this week) will be traveling about 2 hours away to a large area in Buenos Aires with many shops and business and testing out this new way of dressing.

We will contact people wearing the white shirt and tie and then change and contact people wearing business casual both wearing our missionary name tags. We will report how this difference effected contacting people.

Personally, I can see how this could help. People associate the white shirt and tie to “Mormons” and don’t want to talk to us. We clap outside of the houses (how we knock on doors) on the property lines and they look out the window and say, “Go Away Mormon’s we don’t want your message.” We stand out in our areas in white shirts and ties. Also, our name is different, and we are teaching people that we are representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

So today after I get done emailing, we are going to go buy some business casual shirts because all I have are white shirts and soccer jerseys 😁!

It is my companions last week in the mission and I’m going to make it the best one for him hitting 20 contacts everyday no matter what. He finally knows what he is doing as a missionary, and only has a week left on his mission! Jaja He's a good kid and a hard worker.

To leave with a spiritual thought I have been thinking how I can deepen my faith with my Heavenly Father and our Savior here in the field.

Praying, studying your scriptures, and acting in faith will help you strengthen your faith (Get addicted! Jaja). As a missionary you do everything in faith and hope the Spirit will guild you as we listen and act. As our faith is tested more and more we feel the Spirit more and more. As I work hard to apply this, I ask you do the same. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!

Elder Hadley

Parker was at a different Internet Cafe this week and the computer he was on was not able to send his pictures.....so we decided to post a picture for him and wish him a Happy Birthday this next Sunday, November 10th!!!
