Giving Cigarettes Names

Hola! Como andan mi familia y amigos? It's November the best month of the year! Why because it is my Birthday Month! And it is freakin hot here! Jaja This last week has been great, finding many people and getting fetchas!(Baptismal dates)

We have been working with a hermana named Suzanna to get her baptized and trying to get her to quit smoking and drinking. Smoking is a big problem here in Argentina. She is very sweet and smokes about 10 cigarettes a day, for that we were very direct with her. We wrote her children’s names on every cigarette in one pack so she would see the names of her children every time she smoked. Ojala she follows through with her meta (Goal).

It has been crazy here in the pention with moving in the other Elders in our ward because their contract ended Nov. 1. So, it has been very loco with moving in beds, furniture and all their stuff into our pention. I have to crawl over people to get into bed. We look like we are on an episode of “Hoarders”. We are getting bunk beds this next week and that should help with space.

Also, in other news, the Missionary Department for the Church sent us a letter. They have asked us to try to dress business casual instead of wearing white shirts and ties in some of the Latin missions.  We have received more instruction on this from our Zone Leaders. Our mission in the near future (maybe this week) will be traveling about 2 hours away to a large area in Buenos Aires with many shops and business and testing out this new way of dressing.

We will contact people wearing the white shirt and tie and then change and contact people wearing business casual both wearing our missionary name tags. We will report how this difference effected contacting people.

Personally, I can see how this could help. People associate the white shirt and tie to “Mormons” and don’t want to talk to us. We clap outside of the houses (how we knock on doors) on the property lines and they look out the window and say, “Go Away Mormon’s we don’t want your message.” We stand out in our areas in white shirts and ties. Also, our name is different, and we are teaching people that we are representatives of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

So today after I get done emailing, we are going to go buy some business casual shirts because all I have are white shirts and soccer jerseys 😁!

It is my companions last week in the mission and I’m going to make it the best one for him hitting 20 contacts everyday no matter what. He finally knows what he is doing as a missionary, and only has a week left on his mission! Jaja He's a good kid and a hard worker.

To leave with a spiritual thought I have been thinking how I can deepen my faith with my Heavenly Father and our Savior here in the field.

Praying, studying your scriptures, and acting in faith will help you strengthen your faith (Get addicted! Jaja). As a missionary you do everything in faith and hope the Spirit will guild you as we listen and act. As our faith is tested more and more we feel the Spirit more and more. As I work hard to apply this, I ask you do the same. Love you all and hope you have a wonderful week!
