Letter from President and Sister Fernandez

Mom Notes:

While out on a walk today we received an email from Parker’s Mission President stating that they are going to be sending Elder Hadley back home. We are so sad for Parker and the entire Buenos Aire South Mission! Here is the letter we received.

Dear Parents,

By way of this letter, we want to bring you up-to-date related to the missionary work in this part of the Lord’s vineyard.

After extensive consultation with Brethren in Salt Lake and the Missionary Department, and keeping uppermost in their minds the safety and well-being of each missionary, the Area Presidency has determined to return all foreign missionaries serving in the South America South Area to their home countries to be reassigned to a mission in that country.
This means that your son Elder Hadley will be returning home in the following weeks and their travel itineraries will be shared with you once they have been finalized.  We want to also stress that given the current challenges related to international travel, the return will be completed as soon as feasible based on the availability of flights.

We are deeply grateful to have been blessed with the opportunity to serve with such special young men and women in this, the Lord’s work.  It has been a privilege to be in their presence in the Buenos Aires South Mission.  May the Lord continue to bless them always!

Sincerely

President and Sister Fernandez

We have not heard from Parker, but we did reach out to Sister Fernandez. She told us that they don’t know when the missionaries are going back home, and she is afraid that because of the mandatory quarantine in Argentina it will have to be after March 31st.

She said that tomorrow is p-day and they are not able to go out of their apartments, but she gave us his phone number and permission for us to call him. It will be an international call for us because he only has a cheap flip phone that he shares with his companion.

Sister Fernandez told us that they will sure miss Elder Hadley and they are heart broken. They are sending 151 missionaries home from the BAS Mission.

We love Elder Hadley’s Mission President and his wife so much and cannot imagine what they are going through as they have a also missionary son serving here in Utah. We will continue to pray for their family and all the BAS Missionaries as they continued to be under quarantine and pray that the boarders will open for these missionaries to return home.

President and Sister Fernandez posted this on the Mission Facebook Page.

“It’s not about WHERE we serve, it’s about HOW we serve and WHO we serve! WE SERVE with all our heart, might mind and strength THE LORD JESUS CHRIST; this is HIS work. Each of us is a worker in HIS vineyard. He calls us and we obey. If we do what’s right, we have no need to fear, for the Lord, our helper, will ever be near. But an unseen power will aid me and you in the glorious cause of truth!”

Les amo mucho,

Elder Hadley’s Mom
