A Yankee and his Weed Eater

¡Hola! This last week was a good one. Elder Aldave and I taught more lessons and are getting more and more adjusted. It gets pretty cold at night and I am wearing my coat.  The coldest it has gotten is 59 degrees in our room.

For those who don't know 1 US Dollar = 63 Argentina Pesos. All prices for things are changing and confusing but we are catching on.

This last Saturday we did a service project for the Gonzales Family. We mowed the lawn... with a weed eater. With only one weed eater and two missionaries (one missionary had never seen a weed eater before) Elder Hadley needed to step to the plate and get the yard looking nice.

In Argentina they call us Yankees.  We can’t say that we are Americans because they are also Americans, South Americans so I lovingly get called a Yankee! 😁Rrenso (Gonales) was happy to see a Yankee working for him Jaja!!!

I'm loving it here in Argentina and loving the people. After the service project on Saturday we changed and got back to work. In the street the Spirit told me to smile just for a second and look up from the rocky road. I saw this Dude with his shirt off with a bunch of tattoos and smoking. I smiled and waved, and I’ve done this a hundred times before, but nothing happens. This tattooed 19-year-old shouted for me to come. I went up to him and started talking. We taught him a lesson and you can tell he wanted more. I love this dude.

So, the moral of the story is when it is hard and tiring think about Christ and what he did his whole life. He always loved everyone. Listen to the Spirit and Keep smiling!

Te amo, Elder Hadley

Mom Note: A little information from communicating back and forth with Elder Hadley today.
  • Elder Hadley has shared his testimony the two Sunday’s that he has been in Argentina. He loves the people in the ward and the Bishop is great.  The members help him a lot with Castillano (Argentines dialect of Spanish).
  • Parker likes the food and is burning it off every day.  He does a lot of walking and said he walks McKay’s whole mission every day and that her mission is basically his area. 😂(McKay served in the LA Area)
  • Parker bought a watch for $3 today and he also bought his first Mate Cup Today! One of many that I am sure he will purchase.
  • Parker communicates with us from an Internet Café and it is hard for him to type because the keyboard does not have the letters since it has been used so much.
  • President Nelson was in Parker’s mission this last Wednesday (Buenos Aires), but not sure if Parker was able to view the broadcast meeting for the people of Argentina, he did not mention it.  But nice to know the Prophet was in the area. 💗

Doing the whole lawn, it was much bigger than this!
Good thing he has had some practice!

They said he looked like Tom Cruise! 😂

Feeling good after a day of service!  Thank you Gonzales Family for these great pictures!

Dulce de Leche by the spoonful!

Arroz Chaufa

I have no idea what kind of meat this is but you eat everything until it is gone!
